Qi Zai, the world’s only captive brown giant panda, shows his good appetite at the Qinling breeding and research center for the giant panda in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.
Besides bamboo, carrot is also among Qi Zai’s favorite food. With a weight of more than 110 kilograms, Qi Zai eats more than 80 kilograms of bamboo every day, together with apples, carrots and other fruits and vegetables.
The male brown-and-white panda, born in 2009, was adopted last year by Pandas International, a Denver-headquartered non-profit organization, which aims at ensuring the preservation and promotion of the giant panda.
