BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) — China’s population on the mainland reached 1.41178 billion, the National Bureau of Statistics said Tuesday, citing data from the seventh national population census.
China’s population on the mainland has grown by 0.53 percent annually on average in the past decade.
It was slightly down from 105.2 in 2010 when the previous census was conducted.
Gender ratio of China’s mainland population reached 105.07 males to 100 females,.
Aged 60 or above account for 18.7 percent of the total population, 5.44 percentage points higher than the level in 2010 when the previous census was conducted.
